some popular appearances

A few images found on the net.
With the rise of 3D modelisation, computers are heavily used in scientific reasearch for such small scale things as molecular biology, thereby replacing the need for hand drawing, model building*.

The use of 3D modelisation and animation also appears in popular, "leisurly" image making, as we see above, where the particles are resting in semi abstract landscapes, with no reference to scale.
The molecule has also been put to good use as a giant kid's inflatable toy, note the correct inscription "deoxyribonucleic acid".

*erratum: molecular graphics have only partially replaced models, models continue to be sold and used massively because their mobility, immediaty, tactile qualities, interactivity
