space conquest...

the worker's commune

Georgii (or Gyorgy) Krutikov

Student of Nicolai Ladovsky at the Vkhutemas of Moscow in the 1920s.
His Flying City is a progressist urban project which responds to questions on the rationalisation of city space.
The floating units are reserved for office work and housing, leaving the space below on earth for industry, leasure and tourism.
Krutikov's plan lies in the idea that residential needs are universal, 1 or 2 models of housing suffice for an entire nation/world. These trivial things can thus be kept in the air, so as to free the earth space for industry and nature(agriculture, leisure...), considered the key elements of a functioning and progressive communist society.
Krutikov also saw space travel as a necessity.

  1. elles sont vraiment belles ces images...
Et ça fait penser aux esthétiques d'Archigram (Instant city), l'architecture radicale,"sans fondation".....
Je poste dans la foulée quelques dessins de la dite ville...
